How does it work?

The seeker (you) schedule a call with me here. A reading usually lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. When I am working a Card Reading for Life Direction, I use the Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot Deck, which I have used for 25 years.

What to Expect

Dial in to Microsoft Teams. You can do this online or if you have teams open and accept the appointment. This also works in Outlook. I allow 10 minutes for possible technical problems. So, don't get frustrated. It's okay. I want your energy nice and focused on the issues.

We begin with a little introduction and shuffling of the cards. I will ask you to do some simple exercises like breathing a certain way and using your visual imagination. I will give you instructions.

After shuffling, we begin the reading.

Please note that the best kinds of questions are open questions, not closed "yes", "no" or "maybe".

Thoth Deck for Readings

Tarot readings with this deck reflect a deep knowing (Gnosis), especially when combined with the meditative state of the reader and the participant's energy. Though the Thoth Deck is one of the most popular decks today, they are not for beginners. There is much detail and mysticism in the Thoth Tarot deck. The cards are infused with Qabalah (Medieval Kabbalists who believed that all things are linked to God through these emanations, making all levels in creation part of one great, gradually descending chain of being. Through this any lower creation reflects its particular roots in supernal divinity) and Hermeticism, as well as symbols of both macrocosm and microcosm where Crowley, ahead of his time spoke of the unified field. It is the most complex of decks and not for beginners. I have been reading this deck for 20 years and am still studying its nuances.

THOTH Deck

The Thoth deck was released in 1972. Aleister Crowley wrote in ‘The Book of Thoth: A short essay on the Tarot of the Egyptians’ (OTO 1944): ‘the origin of Tarot is quite irrelevant, even if it were certain. It must stand or fall on its own merits.’ and interpreted by Gerald Zeigler's Thoth Tarot: Mirror to the Soul in 1998. The Thoth cards are special. Crowley partnered with artist and friend, Lady Frieda Harris artist to design individually hand painted cards at Crowley's direction. Aleister Crowley These are one of the most beautifully detailed and mystical of tarot decks and are filled with meaning.

Egyptian God Mythology and the Tarot

Aleister Crowley was fascinated by Egyptian mythology, and this is reflected in his Thoth Tarot deck. This tarot deck was designed to be intricate and filled with detail, reflecting Crowley's fascination with the complexity of ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. The tarot cards feature many symbols associated with specific deities, such as Horus, Isis and Osiris. The illustrations are also full of subtle hints to a variety of archetypal figures from the realm of mythology.

The Thoth Tarot is a reflection of Crowley's attempts to integrate knowledge from various sources into a single unified system. He believed that all forms of knowledge could be interconnected if seen through the right lens. His many studies into mysticism and various occult practices led him to develop a unique understanding of Egyptian gods that he then applied to the creation of the Thoth Tarot deck.

Crowley's interest in Egyptology can be traced back even further than his creation of the Thoth Tarot deck; it had been one of his interests since childhood. He often discussed his fascination with Egypt in his writing, particularly on topics such as reincarnation, astral projection and divination. These concepts were integral parts of Ancient Egyptian religion and culture, which he sought to understand more deeply through research and creative exploration.

Crowley's unique insights into the world of Ancient Egyptians enabled him to create an extraordinary tarot deck that evokes their timeless wisdom in a modern context. It reflects not only his reverence for their culture but also his integration of Eastern and Western mysticism into a cohesive whole.
